Introduction

“Waiting for Dawn” is the story of a young soldier and his experiences in
the First World War. It highlights the hardships and horrors faced by many young men who served  in the Army during that time. Writer Gareth
Rothwell is a sergeant who served 18 years in the
British Armed Forces. Both of his great-grandfathers fought and survived
the First World War.

The script won the British Short Screenplay Competition in 2009 and was
judged first out of over 1,500 short scripts by Kenneth Branagh, Michael
Grade, Alan Parker, Michael Kuhn, Nik Powell and Stephen Woolley.
It is a dramatic and moving piece which the judging panel thought would
touch audiences with its thought-provoking subject matter.

We have assembled an experienced and award-winning crew for the project and in-kind, support has been secured from a number of sponsors. We are also lucky enough to have some highly respected charities endorsing the project  including Veterans for Peace and The Soldier Charity. We also have interest from the Royal British Legion and Imperial War Museum. The Film will be shot using 35mm film and filming is set to begin later in the year.

“Waiting for Dawn” Corporate Sponsors are:

Pinewood Studios
Kodak
Panavision

BDA Creative
Sound 24

We would also like to give special thanks to the ABF soldiers charity for their kind support of the project.
